From Ashes to Fire

My husband Ned and I were in an accident this week on our way home from Phoenix.
We went up to visit our children, especially our daughter Paige, who was here for a short vacation. She is an elementary school teacher in Germany with the Dept. of Defense. We had taken her and her adopted son to the airport, had stopped for breakfast and were on our way home to Tucon and were on Gilbert Rd at a stoplight where suddenly there was a huge jolt.someone had crashed into the back our car.
Ned and I looked at each other to see if we were alright and we were and then we looked in the backseat to see if Hugs was ok. We were babysitting Hugs, our daughter and son-in-law’s dog for a week..she was ok, so Ned got out and the young man driving the car got out too…he asked us if we could pull around the corner and settle this without calling the police..Ned refused because we had to make a report…our back end was hit hard. Ned was on the phone with the police so the other driver got back into his car, pulled over to my side of the car and asked me to follow him around the corner so we work it all out without calling the police.…I also refused and told him everything would be ok. He eyes got really big..he started his car….i thought he was going to wait and pull over but suddenly he hit the accelerator to the floor and took off. We couldn’t believe it but the police arrived within two minutes. They were so professional and kind ….there are thousands of good police officers…and we don’t want to lump an entire organization for a few salty pickles. We started praying for the young man right away and asked the officers to tell him we forgive him if they find him. Guess what, they did and they arrested him the same day…that is God…the fact that if he had a weapon he did not use it on us, the fact that he did stop to see if we were ok…he could have fled immediately…and I believe the most important, the fact that we met him and will keep praying and praying for him…that was incredible. From the ashes of a traffic accident to the fire of God’s love reaching out to this young man with our prayers, made something good come out of something bad. Our prayer is that psalm 62, verse 5-7, written by King David says, “ I wait quietly before God, for my hope is in Him, He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor come from God alone, He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me.
Ned and I wait quietly before our God to touch this young man’s heart so that God alone will become his salvation and his fortress and he will find his honor from God alone that Jesus will become this young man’s refuge, his rock…will you join us in this prayer? Love, kathy
