The Scam of All Time

My husband Ned and I recently got a phone call from our grandson.  He sounded upset and said he had been in a car accident in Michigan and he was going to be charged. He explained that a  car had pulled in front of him, he was going over the speed limit, and he plowed into the car.  The front passenger was thrown thru the windshield and was hurt but was not wearing a seatbelt. He told us the police were taking him into custody and he had one call and had tried calling our daughter but she was not home. “ Please help me and post a $500 bond ,” he pleaded…”or I will go to will get it back as soon as it becomes public record.”  We would have sworn it was our grandson, same identical voice and yep you are right…it was a scam.  He claimed they took his phone and to keep it private.  Ned went and bought a credit card and we waited for the call to come from the court…it never did.  Finally we called our daughter, she called our grandson, who was home and was never in an accident.

If you had asked us if we would ever fall for such a scheme we would have laughed, but we did.  We had asked a lot of questions of our grandson, and the phony lawyer he put on.  We  pray psalm 91 every night and put our names and those of our family and friends in it…the psalm of protection….I know the Lord protected us.  If you have a landline (they will never do this on a cell phone) beware!  Just today we got a second call from the scammers with a voice that sounded just like another grandson..Ned asked which grandson since we had 8  (a wee fib) and the caller hung up.
What’s the biggest scam of all?  The world telling us we don’t need a Savior..that we are so special we don’t need anyone..or perhaps we need a god that does not demand the one thing Satan does not want us to give…our love and allegiance to Jesus Christ and Him alone. The greatest truth you can take to the bank and it will always be honored is found in the Bible in John 3:16…”For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”  Spread the revival…Jesus is coming back soon..are YOU ready?
